Thank you for visiting this website. Carmen Rosalina Antonia van Alebeek (1999) is a PhD researcher in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the consequences of political (dis)trust for democratic attitudes and behavior, such as political participation, voting behavior, and law compliance.
Carmen obtained her research master’s degree in Social Sciences (RMSS) (cum laude) in 2023 at the University of Amsterdam. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science (cum laude) from Radboud University, Nijmegen.
Carmen’s academic interests lie in the areas of political trust, political behavior, and democratic citizenship. During her studies, she has contributed to various research projects concerning democratic attitudes, participation and representation. She has been a team member of the Dutch Adolescent Panel on Democratic Values (DAPDV) or, in Dutch, Adolescentenpanel Democratische Kernwaarden en Schoolloopbanen (ADKS) since 2021. In 2024, she joined ERC-CoG project CRITICALTRUST as a doctoral researcher.
